Inspired by the true story of Martin McGartland who was recruited by the British Special Branch to work inside the IRA. He moved up the ranks and saved well over 50 lives, yet ended up being hunted by both sides. He had to leave his young girlfriend and child behind for their own protection and is still on the run today. Review: Violent, raw, real and intense - by Horacio Santiago Violent, raw, real and intense. The history of IRA could sometimes be more unbelievable than the actual facts. Dark and cold, protestant and catholic, the British army and the voluntary army of the IRA, a community divided and that uncertain future of their children. Kari Skogland directs one action pack suspenseful movie that builds scene after scene. Even though the script goes flat in some part of the movies, the leading characters maintain the movie interesting. Also, the script does not falls in political point of views and facts, but portrays the life of the Irish community, their loyalty, believes and customs. Jim Sturges and Ben kingsley give real and powerful performances, daring and with an amazing chemistry between them. Sturges plays a young Irishman infiltrated in the IRA to inform all the plans of the IRA, and save many innocents, he is intelligent and faithful o this believes.
