"Sex and the City 2" Spends 10 Million Dollars on Wardrobe

When Michael Patrick King started writing Sex and the City 2, the economy had just made itself a new home in the sewers. He knew the country was hurting and experiencing new kinds of money woes. But instead of contemplating how he could tone down the sequel's extravagance to reflect the uncomfortable financial pressure of many Americans, he ultimately decided against it and shelled out $10 million for what the girls would wear. (He must have really not wanted to see them naked!)

Sex and the City 2... not in Abu Dhabi

The film stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, who reprised their roles from the previous film and TV series. It also features appreances from Liza Minnelli, Miley Cyrus, and Penelope Cruz.

There's one scene in particular, where Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha are doing karaoke in Abu Dhabi, and two of the outfits (and their prices) are described as follows: Carrie wears $4,000 embellished Blonds jeans under a $47,190 silver and gold Chanel lamé dress (that's over $50,000 right there -- and somebody's freshman year at an Ivy) and Samantha wears a $5,000 spiked blazer.

In other scenes, Charlotte makes cupcakes in a Valentino blouse and Miranda (probably goes to work as a lawyer) in a Roland Mouret dress so expensive that you or I wouldn't even wear it to sleep. Source

Kim Cattrall doesn’t like cougars

The 'Sex and the City' star Kim Cattrall said she hates the term "cougar," and recently lost a magazine cover because she refused to pose with one of the big cats.

"I really take umbrage to the code 'cougar,'" she said. "I think cougar has a negative connotation, and I don't see anything negative about Samantha and her sexuality, sensuality and choice. I don't think she stands or sits in bars waiting for young men to prey on. And I think that's something that people who are uncomfortable with strong women have labeled her."

Kim stood up for her beliefs at the cost of some publicity.

"I was asked recently by a significant magazine for women over 40 to pose with a cougar, and I refused to do it because I felt it was insulting," she said. "They took away the cover because I refused to do so." Source
