The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has been knocked off the top of the North American box office after one week by animated 3D film Despicable Me.

"Despicable Me" wasn't such a bad guy after all, it seems, opening at the top of the box office with an estimated $60.1 million.

The first 3-D animated movie from Universal Pictures stars Steve Carell as the voice of Gru, a bumbling villain with plans to steal the moon -- until three adorable orphan girls enter his life. Jason Segel, Russell Brand and Julie Andrews are among the star-studded voice cast.

Nikki Rocco, head of distribution for Universal, said Sunday that "Despicable Me" far exceeded the studio's expectations for opening weekend. Source

Summit Entertainment, the studio that made the Twilight series, is doing its best to make sure that if you want to see a vampire brooding, you do it through Summit. The company seems to be lobbing lawsuits at pretty much anyone who uses Twilight's name or images without its permission.

… Summit also objects to fans making Twilight T-shirts without its approval. In 2009, the company demanded that Zazzle.com, a service that lets people upload, print and sell their own clothing designs, remove its users' Twilight-themed T-shirts from its site.

The company also sued Topics Entertainment for making a documentary about Forks, WA., the real-life town where the Twilight books and films take place. Among other claims, Summit accused Topics of copyright infringement because both the DVD cover of that documentary and the DVD cover of Summit's own documentary on the town featured a moonlit forest. After over a year of speculation, one of Hollywood’s worst kept secrets has finally been revealed, as Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson confirms that he is dating his co-star Kristen Stewart.

Star of the Twilight film franchise, Pattinson, 23, who has previously been intensely secretive about his private life, confessed he and his co-star Stewart, 19, were an item at a dinner held after the BAFTA Awards on Sunday. Source
